Fellow Beings in the Household of Creation
A poem
When did we succumb
to the delusion of
separateness?
That I
am better,
and you,
are lesser?
That I
am deserving,
and you,
are not?
We are fellow beings
in the household
of creation1
our lives and stories
woven together,
back into the past
and on into the future.
Our destinies depend
entirely on each other
our flourishing founded
in the good of all.
Children of the Creator
each an image.
Can one arm
chop off the other
and be well?
Can one clump of cells
say to one another
you are not welcome here?
Who will save us
from this autoimmune
dysfunction?
