Chris, this poem moved me greatly. I shared it with my wife, and she simply nodded and "yes". I was wondering if I could share this with some friends through my social media? Thanks for your time and reply.

Of course Dan, feel free to share! I also have it posted on my poetry Instagram @chrisyokelwrites if you’d like to share it from there

In a moment of seriousness, I was trying to share your "rage against the creek" to my wife. When I said your name, she said "Is that one of our local Yokel's?"

I am sure that you have heard them all, but I just had to share.

Thanks again for sharing your poetry with the world!

“Why do wicked men

keep getting away with murder?

And why

do we let them?”

This whole poem, but especially these lines got me.

Some of those prophets don't seem so crazy anymore, huh?

Time for some Ezekiel-level performance art.

I teared up reading this— my soul echoes this.

Love, love, love this. Yes and amen. I will keep grieving the evils of my people and crying out for deliverance.

Thanks Chris. I work with two ICU docs from Syria and Jordan. They often seem less surprised over the years having seen a 'revenge culture' among many peoples in the Middle East and also being more used to America's complicity in supplying the war machine - which sadly is not new.

Psalm 46:10 is best translated, not 'be still' to our own hearts, but rather to the nations: 'STOP FIGHTING!' 'CEASE YOUR WARRING!' 'LET GO!' and 'CALM DOWN!'

Thank you for putting my feelings into such excellent words.
