Something New

A poem

What if
in the darkness
of our questions
and doubts
we are met,
and
something new
begins to form?

Spiritual/philosophical darkness can be terrifying, especially if you’ve been raised in a tradition of high certainty. It can feel like fall through a lightless chasm with no reference point and no safety net.

But

What if darkness became a place of possiblity?

All new life begins in darkness, from the embryo in the womb to the seed in the earth.

I think sometimes we have to be plunged into darkness in order to experience the possibility of something new being birthed within us.
