Sometimes I Wake Early

A poem

Sometimes in the summer
I wake up early
and the sun is washing the world clean.

The fields are all dewy and golden
and green
and the trees are gently waving
hello, hello,
in the cool morning breeze,

and I step outside
ready to be baptized again
for I have grown old and tried
and need to be made new.
