“Jesus the Christ has still planted within creation a cosmic hope, and you cannot help but see it in so many unexplainable and wonderful events and people. The ‘problem of good’ is just as much an enigma and mystery as is the of-bemoaned ‘problem of evil’”
-Richard Rohr, Eager to Love
Philosophers have long pondered
the problem of evil
but how often
are we flummoxed
by the miracle of good?
Why do children die of cancer—
but also why are we all so desperate
to snuggle the fresh smelling hope
of a newborn baby?
Why do the powerful
keep on pillaging the planet—
but also why am I amazed
at another spring of buds and blossoms?
Why do humans kills each other
over greed and hate—
but also why are we astounded
by the news story of the hero rushing
into the burning building?
Why do people keep betraying each other—
but also why do they keep falling
in love
in love
in love?
So good, man
Yessir.
