Walking Through the Woods on Halloween
A poem
Walking through the woods
on Halloween
the skeletal trees
laid bare, and stark,
the dead lie strewn
about my feet.
Not long before
costumed so brightly
their brown, dry husks
now skitter along
sounding eerie notes
in the moaning wind.
